Everyone’s nightmare is hosting a party and no one comes. Imagine the pressure when you’re the new kid on the block, and you’re also hosting your party at the same time as several other cool kids.
Not a nice prospect, right? There’s going to be a whole lot of anxiety going on, wondering if people will choose your party or someone else’s.
Well, that was the deal for Absurd Bird when they brought their quirky and fun casual dining concept fresh out of London to Exeter’s Guildhall Dining quarter. With all restaurants in that development tasked with opening their doors by the end of September, the heat was on.
We were approached by Absurd Bird as they were looking for a local marketing partner to help them land their concept and explode on the foodie scene and having worked with several other restaurant launches, we knew it took a fast paced, focused, integrated on and offline marketing campaign to get them the results they needed.
Full throttle was the order of the day, and with just eight weeks until the doors officially opened, we set about building an online audience and building their profile offline too.
With so many other restaurants making noise at the same time, we knew we’d need to be smart and we set about building conversations with key influencers, running competitions, hosting several key influencer events, circulating media releases and utilising our big black book of contacts to create a stir.
The culmination of high energy, tactical on and offline PR and marketing meant Absurd Bird had the best party ever! Three jam packed soft launches and full capacity on their opening night, Absurd Bird Exeter has proved to be their most successful Absurd Bird restaurant launch yet.
For us, they were a dream client – not only did they have a very cool brand and fab product, they’re super organised and importantly, they trusted our expertise and allowed us to crack on with the job. It helped they were also heaps of fun to work with too – so it’s smiles all round.
We’re about to spread our wings as we will be helping Absurd Bird launch in Bath too, adding to our rapidly expanding restaurant portfolio.
